Prominence

Prominence
Prominence is a metric that measures how often an attribute appears in top search results for queries related to a Central Entity.

Prominence measures how frequently an attribute appears in top Google results for queries related to the Central Entity. Prominence indicates how often competitors cover specific attributes, with high Prominence meaning most competitors include this attribute.

In competitive gap analysis, the frequency of an attribute appearing among competitors (e.g., 7/10 pages in the top 10) is a practical indicator of Prominence. High-Prominence attributes typically belong in the ROOT section of the Topical Map because ROOT (definitional) attributes typically have the highest Prominence since most competitors cover them.

Prominence can be measured by analyzing which topics appear in 7+ out of 10 competitors using tools like Ahrefs or Senuto. High-Prominence attributes typically require coverage, as their absence creates critical content gaps. Attributes with low Prominence (1–2/10) may represent RARE opportunities — a chance for Information Gain.
