Beneficiary (Recipient)

Beneficiary (Recipient) is a semantic role in Semantic Role Labeling (SRL) that identifies the entity that receives the benefit or advantage from an action or state described in a sentence.

For example, 'Cortisol ensures proper functioning FOR the organism' — the organism is the Beneficiary. Precise identification of Beneficiary helps AI personalize responses for specific groups (patients, athletes, pregnant women) and improves matching to sub-queries from Query Fan-out. In the Salience hierarchy, Beneficiary ranks lower than Agent and Patient.

Beneficiary is particularly important in YMYL content, where the target group determines context: 'cortisol in children' vs 'cortisol in athletes' are completely different queries.
