Claude (Own Index)

Claude is Anthropic's AI platform with its own web index. Unlike ChatGPT, it doesn't rely on Bing, which means Bing visibility doesn't guarantee Claude visibility. It uses smaller fanout than competitors but deploys its own crawler to build the index. Claude prefers content with strong semantic structure, precise numerical data, and low hedging; its engine excels at parsing Semantic Role Labels and autonomous chunks.

A separate visibility strategy means: don't block non-standard user-agents in robots.txt (Claude has its own crawling bot), build visibility in sources that Claude indexes, and monitor presence in Claude responses separately from ChatGPT or Perplexity. In practice, check your site's robots.txt — if you're blocking bots other than Googlebot and Bingbot, you might be blocking Claude's crawler. The AI Search market is fragmented: separate optimization for each platform gives you an advantage over competitors who only optimize for Google.
