Contextual Connections
Contextual Connections are links between related content based on shared semantic attributes rather than matching keywords.

Contextual Connections are semantic links between an article and other pages—both internal and external—that build a relationship network around a topic. Each connection creates an internal link with semantic context. We call this a Contextual Bridge (a short 2–3 sentence intro plus link to a related topic).

Unlike traditional keyword-based linking, contextual connections link content through entity relationships rather than keyword matches. For example, an article about operating leases links to car loans not through keyword-based anchors, but through a Contextual Bridge: 'An operating lease is an alternative to a car loan—you can find a comparison of both financing options in our dedicated article.' Strong Contextual Connections boost Topical Authority across content clusters while helping Google understand topic relationships. This approach typically involves identifying entities from the knowledge graph that share attributes with the Central Entity and building Contextual Bridges to those articles.
