Competitor Gap Analysis
Semantic Audit PipelinesCompetitor gap analysis is a stage or pipeline that compares competitor content with your site's content at the semantic embedding level. The process: vectorize client content and content from 3–5 competitors, find topics covered by competitors but absent from the client (cosine similarity < 0.7 to any client content). The result is a prioritized list of content gaps — topics competitors write about that the client doesn't.
Competitor gap analysis provides much deeper analysis than comparing keywords in Ahrefs because it operates on MEANING, not phrases. Competitor gap analysis extends content gap analysis from the knowledge graph with a competitive dimension; the graph says 'what's missing in the topic', the analyzer says 'what's missing vs competition'.
For example, a law firm site covers 60% of knowledge graph topics but only 40% of topics covered by the top 3 competitors. This 20% represents competitive gaps. In practice, crawl the top 3–5 competitors quarterly and compare with embeddings: new content gaps emerge when competitors publish new content.
