Popularity
Theoretical FoundationsPopularity is the third criterion for attribute filtering, measuring search volume (how many users search for information about a given attribute). Attributes with high Popularity are mandatory content elements, as they respond to real user demand.
In the clustering pipeline, Popularity gets verified through Ahrefs/Senuto and serves as a cutoff: phrases below the volume threshold (e.g., 50) don't make it into the topical map as separate clusters, but can be covered in FAQ sections. Popularity works with Relevance and Prominence in RPP filtering; only attributes meeting all three conditions qualify for content.
In practice, an attribute with zero search volume but high Relevance and Prominence may still have value as a Depth element — cover it briefly in FAQ rather than creating a separate article. Popularity is especially important when planning mega menu: only phrases with volume above 5-10 thousand make it into main navigation.
